Bio:
I first started doing triathlons as an outgrowth of lots of running — I discovered that biking was pretty fun, got a tri bike and I was hooked. (But then I had to learn to swim. Ugh. It’s been an uphill battle.)
My dad was always an athletic inspiration to me, having completed multiple Ironmans in his 30′s and over 25 marathons. We trained for and competed in IMC ’08 and ’09 as dad/daughter. My biggest source of inspiration comes from my the way my daughter Casey lives her life as an active, vivacious, positive, loving spirit despite having type 1 diabetes. This motivates me to be the best I can be every day.
My biggest achievements are a beautiful and long marriage to my high school sweetheart and raising 3 amazing kids. Running a fun design biz and holding my own at the races feels pretty good too. So far in my tri career, I have completed 2 full IM’s (PR: 11:43) and 3 marathons, including Boston, and 20 other triathlons of varying distances. My favorite distance is the Olympic — just enough time where I can catch up on the bike and not lose it on the run!
Miscellaneous info that no one may care about:
- I’m a former ballerina and danced with Pacific NW Ballet for 10 years
- If I’m not wearing athletic gear, I’m wearing heels and something girlie
- I believe in working hard and playing harder
- My favorite quote is “Whether you think you can or you can’t, you’re right.”
