Bio:
I’ve been doing triathlons on and off since 2000. It all started when some friends at a holiday party, after one too many drinks, all agreed to do the Danskin sprint triathlon together. By the time August rolled around, I was the only one who did the race. When I started to train I couldn’t even swim the length of the pool. It took me 33 minutes to swim 1/2 mile, but I did it. Now swimming is my favorite leg and I’ve gotten speedier.
My biggest achievement is my daughter, Julia. She is a challenge, inspiration, and gift all wrapped into one. Training time with a preschooler on the loose is inconsistent, but she’s willing to go on runs in the baby jogger — as long as a lollipop is provided — and hang out at the SAC while I swim. She even told me that she “wants to be a swimmer, runner and bike rider” when she grows up. That’s my girl!
I found TN Multisports in 2009 when I dropped in for the early morning open water swims with the other team members. When they all cheered me on during Lake Stevens 70.3, just as I was losing steam, I knew I wanted to be a part of the group. I’m excited about the team camaraderie and I really enjoy the team workouts – they kick my butt! I also have an uncanny ability to locate an ice cream store in any city I go to, even if I’ve never been there. It’s an ice cream sixth sense, and I consider it to be a great asset to TN Multisports.
